Two people can go through the same argument or misunderstanding but show their feelings in different ways. This photograph explores how two people in a relationship can become emotionally distant after a disagreement, even when they may still care about each other. It shows a man and a woman walking away from each other after an argument or misunderstanding. Although they are moving apart, the woman looks back at the man, suggesting that she is still thinking about what happened and may not be ready to completely let go. The man continues walking forward without looking back. This shows how two people can react differently to the same situation. While the woman's feelings are easier to notice, the man's feelings are less clear.

Does walking away mean letting go?
One important part of the photograph is the difference in the ground they are walking on. The woman is going down a slope, while the man is standing on flatter ground, and the natural light was placed right. I used the difference to show how two people can experience the same emotional pain but express it differently. The woman's movement and the way she looks make her feelings more noticeable, while the man's decision to keep walking suggests that he is hiding his emotions. The lighting, the different ground levels and the characters' body language all help to tell the story. The man is standing on flatter ground and the shadow from the tree makes his face darker: I wanted to show how he keeps his emotions hidden and does not openly show what he is feeling. The slope, on the other hand, represents the difficulty the woman is having in the relationship, and unlike the man her face is clearly visible because of the natural light, making her emotions easy to see. While editing the photograph in Photoshop, I also changed the man's expression, because he was smiling in the original photo. His smile did not match the serious and emotional feeling I wanted the photograph to have.
